Ground rules for 2006

A. RELEASE of PLAYERS
a. 2005 Winner must release all but 2 players
b. 2005 Runner-up must release all but 3 players
c. 2005 Last place must release all but 4 players
d. Any team may release more players if desired
e. All release (retention) of players done simultaneously unless any manager(owner) wants to know order of retention for any reason
f, If requested, each team names 1 player retained in winner order until all retained players accounted for

B. TEAMS
a. 9 Players
b. 7 Pitchers 5 Starters & 2 Relievers required; RH and LH starters must be designated
c. No more than 3 players from any single ML team; at least 5 players from each ML league
d. Requirement applies at end of draft and at end of draft correction and at any time during the season

C. CATEGORIES
a. Remains at 21

D. TRADES
a. Only 10 per season (but see salary cap); but injury trades unlimited
b. If you don't replace DL player when available, must use trade to replace him permanently
Trades must be announced before 8am Monday morning

E. SALARY CAP
a. Cap for 2006 begins at $120,000,000
b. As before, during draft, may use 1 trade to increase cap by $5M; overall max including trade swap $130M (and therefore 7 trades)
c. Preseason draft will use owners estimate of 2006 salaries - However a recalculation "draft" will be held once official 2006 salaries are available.
d. Once 2006 salaries, available, draft to be "recalculated" and owners required to bring team with corrected salaries in line with cap
e. May add $5M for trade if not already at max of $130M with 7 trades
f. Each team has 2 "free" trades to adjust roster if necessary; usable ONLY for this purpose; lost if not used or required
g. If more trades needed, must use one of the season's trades
h. Recalculation draft will follow same sequence as the preseason draft: For 2006 sequence is: Scrapers; Dragons; Marauders
